Friends

As you all might be knowing, my studies and preparation for the PGDIT course is about to end by Jan 2010 and I am in search of some of the decent online/distant education universities for doing further studies. I have not decided what to study next but I am guessing it must be M.S in Corporate Education & Internal Training or B.Ed or… oh well, I don’t really know. If you are also sailing on the same boat as mine, then check out the below Universities. These are the top 10 universities and I have ordered them based on their popularity and reputation.

1. University of Phoenix
2. Capella University
3. Walden University
4. Kaplan University
5. AIU Online
6. DeVry University
7. Westwood College Online
8. Strayer University
9. Jones International University
10. Grand Canyon University

Consider Post University Online as well for it has got some nice courses. It took me couple of hours last night to come up with this list and I feel it is worth sharing :)

If you think I am missing any of the valid and renowned University then please let me know.

haha :)

A tad long, but too good.

Some, rather most organizations reject his CV today because he has changed jobs frequently (10 in 14 years). The ‘job hopper’ (referred here as Mr. JH), does not mind it…. well he does not need to mind it at all. Having worked full-time with 10 employer companies in just 14 years gives Mr. JH the relaxing edge that most of the ‘company loyal’ employees are struggling for today. Today, Mr. JH too is laid off like some other 14-15 year experienced guys – the difference being the latter have just worked in 2-3 organizations in the same number of years. Here are the excerpts of an interview with Mr. JH:

Q: Why have you changed 10 jobs in 14 years?
A: To get financially sound and stable before getting laid off the second time.

Q: So you knew you would be laid off in the year 2009?
A: Well I was laid off first in the year 2002 due to the first global economic slowdown. I had not got a full-time job before January 2003 when the economy started looking up; so I had struggled for almost a year without job and with compromises.

Q: Which number of job was that?
A: That was my third job.

Q: So from Jan 2003 to Jan 2009, in 6 years, you have changed 8 jobs to make the count as 10 jobs in 14 years?
A: I had no other option. In my first 8 years of professional life, I had worked only for 2 organizations thinking that jobs are deserved after lot of hard work and one should stay with an employer company to justify the saying ‘employer loyalty’. But I was an idiot.

Q: Why do you say so?
A: My salary in the first 8 years went up only marginally. I could not save enough and also, I had thought that I had a ‘permanent’ job, so I need not worry about ‘what will I do if I lose my job’. I could never imagine losing a job because of economic slowdown and not because of my performance. That was January 2002.

Q: Can you brief on what happened between January 2003 and 2009.
A: Well, I had learnt my lessons of being ‘company loyal’ and not ‘money earning and saving loyal’. But then you can save enough only when you earn enough. So I shifted my loyalty towards money making and saving – I changed 8 jobs in 6 years assuring all my interviewers about my stability.

Q: So you lied to your interviewers; you had already planned to change the job for which you were being interviewed on a particular day?
A: Yes, you can change jobs only when the market is up and companies are hiring. You tell me – can I get a job now because of the slowdown? No. So one should change jobs for higher salaries only when the market is up because that is the only time when companies hire and can afford the expected salaries.

Q: What have you gained by doing such things?
A: That’s the question I was waiting for. In Jan 2003, I had a fixed salary (without variables) of say Rs. X p.a. In January 2009, my salary was 8X. So assuming my salary was Rs.3 lakh p.a. in Jan 2003, my last drawn salary in Jan 2009 was Rs.24 lakh p.a. (without variable). I never bothered about variable as I had no intention to stay for 1 year and go through the appraisal process to wait for the company to give me a hike.

Q: So you decided on your own hike?
A: Yes, in 2003, I could see the slowdown coming again in future like it had happened in 2001-02. Though I was not sure by when the next slowdown would come, I was pretty sure I wanted a ‘debt-free’ life before being laid off again. So I planned my hike targets on a yearly basis without waiting for the year to complete.

Q: So are you debt-free now?
A: Yes, I earned so much by virtue of job changes for money and spent so little that today I have a loan free 2 BR flat (1200 sq. feet) plus a loan free big car without bothering about any EMIs. I am laid off too but I do not complain at all. If I have laid off companies for money, it is OK if a company lays me off because of lack of money.

Q: Who is complaining?
A: All those guys who are not getting a job to pay their EMIs off are complaining. They had made fun of me saying I am a job hopper and do not have any company loyalty. Now I ask them what they gained by their company loyalty; they too are laid off like me and pass comments to me – why will you bother about us, you are already debt-free. They were still in the bracket of 12-14 lakh p.a. when they were laid off.

Q: What is your advice to professionals?
A: Like Narayan Murthy had said – love your job and not your company because you never know when your company will stop loving you. In the same lines, love yourself and your family needs more than the company’s needs. Companies can keep coming and going; family will always remain the same. Make money for yourself first and simultaneously make money for the company, not the other way around.

Q: What is your biggest pain point with companies?
A: When a company does well, its CEO etc will address the entire company saying, ‘well done guys, it is YOUR company, keep up the hard work, I am with you.” But when the slowdown happens and the company does not do so well, the same CEO Etc will say, “It is MY company and to save the company, I have to take tough decisions including asking people to go.” So think about your financial stability first; when you get laid off, your kids will complain to you and not your boss.

You all are invited :) Do drop by, if you live in Chennai and got some time by June 14th 2009.

I am excited :)

Are you a Web Desinger or Developer?

If you are one, you might find this information useful.

  • Can you make extraordinary flash sites?
  • Do you think your CSS skills are great and you can make decent CSS sites?
  • Are you looking for an authenticated site to promote your creations?
Well, here is a site for you to promote your site for FREE. I can design/develop CSS sites a lot better than the flash sites. I am not that skilled in designing flash sites. I need to find some time to improve that skill :)

Submit your sites at Design Idol, you never know… yours could be this month’s featured website :)

IT is down these days, how about trying for IAS?

Girls, come on! :)

...and guys, chase us if you can haha :) :) :)

More at: Yahoo News

I have seen and still am seeing many people on and off the internet asking how to make money online without any investment.

Disclaimer: None of these methods work from office. They are all blocked :) you need to have a PC with an internet connection at your home to do this.

There are a lot of ways but to be frank you can not earn 1000 dollars over night. It however depends on your qualification as well.

  • Can you code embedding flash players script or mp3 player scripts? OR
  • Are you good in MySQL related tasks? OR
  • Can you design websites or logo or banners? OR
  • Do you belong to the category, “I know nothing but for click my mouse away and simply surfing the net”? OR
  • Do you feel, “I already am a full time developer and I don’t want do the same stupid code again as a part time job. All I want is just spending my time on Internet in a monetary way”?
If you belong to the first three categories, check out getafreelancer.com and rentacoder.com you are sure to make some bucks! I myself have earned a decent amount 6 to 7 months before from those two sources for designing. Digital point is an amazing forum containing a lot such part time jobs. Search Google for Digital Point Forum, you will find them!

If you belong to the 4th or 5th category then there are a lot of opportunities. They won’t fetch you big money but it will be an enough pocket money for you…

Let’s see a bit more about these now…

PTC – Paid To Click/ PTR – Paid To Read E-mails/Paid To Surf & Search/Paid to Sign-up

This is the slowest mode of earning money. People might tend to get bored of this at times. You will make around 2 USD per week which is really low. But hey, what more can you expect just for clicking? hahaha However if you join more such sites then you can earn (no. of sites * 2) USD.

PTP – Paid to Post

This is a decent source. You get paid for participating in discussion forums. $0.10 to $0.20 per post so more the posts you can make per day you get paid more. I used to earn 100-150 USD (5000 INR - 7500 INR) per month. Not trying to exaggerate but I really did. It is not magic but you need to post of various forums, minimum 20 posts everyday. I got a lot more other personal things to do so I left my online earning these days.

PTS – Paid to Take Surveys

I would not advice this for Asians as they are not many surveys given for Asians but for those in the US/UK/Canada, you can earn big time (around $5 to $50 per survey depending on the number of question asked in that Survey), I mean it! There are a few for Asians too but I would not recommend unless you have a lot of free time and want to try everything out by your own.

Paid to upload Videos/Photos

You will be paid $5 per 1000 views of the photo/video you uploaded. Join them only if you feel this fascinating! I personally would not :)

Paid to upload files

Similar to the one above but here you will be paid based on how many others have downloaded your file. Uploading.com, easyshare.com are a few.

As of now I am in the process of trying out other local Data Entry jobs in Chennai which needs no investment and pays us genuinely. I will share those details if I succeed finding any. 90 percent of them are all scams!

Apart from these, if you got a blog or website, go for Adsense or other affiliate programs. This is not easy either. You need to have unique content that would fetch you more readers. No readers means no clicks on your adsense and no money :(

If you still have any query, need help or suggestion, you can drop me a comment and I will get back to you.

When you find sometime, try to read How to earn Rs. 200 per week

Okay, I think I kept you all in a huge suspense, I guess Lol You all would have read my Some feelings are so special, yeah? Well, I myself was excited about it. Just wanted to let you all know the good news that his parents agreed and the official engagement is fixed on June 14th, Sunday. Initially, two days were suggested by the Astrologer - June 3rd and June 14th. Since June 14th is Sunday, which probably should be a day off for most of my mates (excluding the ones who work even on the weekends :(). Considering the availability of almost everyone, we have chosen 14th to be the date of Betrothal.

I am still excited about it. In my life, "Men" has always meant Dad, Uncle, Teacher, Friends, Cousin brothers, Colleagues, etc. This "fiance" or "husband" sort of relation is totally new to me. Well, it sure is new to every women when she experiences it for the first time. I hope I will get the hang of it. At the same time, I got my MBA 2nd semester exams and JLPT Level 4 Internal exam coming up this June. Besides, June 18th is my birthday Lol Guess, this June is gonna be a busy month for me.

I shall put up some of the pictures once the engagement is over! I gotta wear the, "9- gajam saree" as per my caste Lol I am too excited and very little bit scared too. Bless me, guys :)

Earn Rs.200 per week

If you consider this to be a scam, you very well can skip it even with out reading any further :)

For the rest who are planning to read this, let me first tell you… this is NOT a scam. I have been paid and that is why I thought I would share this information. For the IT people like us, 200 per week is nothing as we use 200 as a day’s pocket money. Still, money is money! I earn and hence I wanted to share it with you all!

How much can I earn?

I earn Rs. 200/- per week as I am too busy to be active in that forum. If I were active, I could earn even more!

What should I do?

Just post in the various section of that forum. The forum name is Digital Bhoomi; it is an Indian forum where they discuss about Latest Indian movies, Disney Channel, Technology, Job opportunities, Health care, etc. It’s is a fun way to spend your free time and earn money as well.

Can I earn more than Rs. 200 per week?

Yes! You sure can! Apart from posting on the forums, they also have various other contests like “Member of the month”, “Referrer of the month”, etc where they give extra money for the ones that write useful or touching posts. First prize is Rs. 500, second prize is Rs. 300 and third prize is Rs. 200.

Get started

  1. Go to Digital Bhoomi
  2. Click on the Register link
  3. Agree to the terms & Conditions
  4. Ensure you have flower07 under the Referrer field (that's me :))
  5. Enter other mandatory details and sign up.
  6. Check your mail and activate the account
  7. Login your account. There are many sections in the Forum including Movies/Disney Channel/Jobs opportunities.
  8. Make just one single post in any of the section you like. May be, in the New Member introduction section will be a good start :)

This is just the start. Then you can make 1 point for every single forum post. If you refer someone then you get 2 points. If the person who you referred makes one post then you get extra 3 points. Like this... When you reach 200 points you will get 100 rupees. When you reach 400 points then they will send you a DD or cheque to your address. If you prefer Paypal, they have that option too.

If you have any doubt you can ask me via e-mail or on that forum either. This is a valid site and it helps to earn some pocket money. We can not earn Rs.1000 online just in one day. If some body says you can that is sure a scam! This is one of the genuine ways to earn some cash from Internet. I will tell you more like this when I find any good really paying sites.

PS: This site is NOT blocked even in your office premises but ensure you don’t do this when you have work. Do this only when you are bored :)

Keyboard shortcut for closing tabs

We all know CTR+T is the shortcut to open new tabs… let it be Firefox, Safari (I no longer use this browser but a good one), GAIM (now called Pidgin), Trillian, etc. Not many know the keyboard shortcut for closing tabs though. It is CTRL+W. CTRL+F4 also does the same job but it is not as convenient as CTRL+W.

Note – CTRL+SHIFT+W will close the complete window and not just the tab.

I recently heard this song from Kal Kisne Dekha Hai movie. It's just awesome and makes me get too romantic LOL The lyrics are so extraordinary!

Tere Bina Tere Bina
Lagta Nahi Mera Jiya
Ab Tere Siva Chalein
Meri Saasen Naa Re Naa

Mere Hamsufer Piru Darbadar
Shaamo Shehar Doonde Tujko Nazar

Ek Pal Ki Bi Judai Ab Sahi Jaati Nahi
Mar Na Jo Chaahu Agar Toh Mowt Bi Aati Nahi

I dedicate this song for someone special x x x

Download Tere Bina song NOW! You would love it, I hope :)
